The Mourners Exhibition Opens at the Met

The exhibition consists of 40 mourners from the tomb of John the Fearless, and three figures and one fragment of the architectural arcade from the tomb of Philip the Bold. Because the statuettes have been freed from the architectural framework that usually contains them, the figures will be seen in the round by the public for the first time ever.
Marquand produced the accompanying catalogue, distributed by Yale University Press. After its presentation at the Metropolitan Museum, the exhibition will be shown at the Saint Louis Art Museum, Dallas Museum of Art, Minneapolis Institute of Arts, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco, and Musée National du Moyen Âge, Paris.
